Andhra Pradesh governor E S L Narasimhan has got an interesting doubt on Tuesday: why is Telangana Joint Action Committee firm on conducting Telangana March with 10 lakh people only on September 30?
The Governor raised this question when the representatives of the TJAC led by Prof M Kodandaram met him and requested him not to look at the Telangana movement as a law and order problem.
“Why are you firm on holding this Telangana March only on September 30? Is there any specific reason?” he asked them.
Kodandaram told him that they had chosen September 30 which was exactly 100 days before December 9, on which home minister P Chidambaram made an announcement three years ago on commencing the process for formation of Telangana state.
The governor was not convinced about the reasoning given by Kodandaram. He asked the TJAC leaders whether there was any possibility of postponing the programme, in the wake of Ganesh Nimajjanam at Tank Bund and the prestigious UN convention on biodiversity being held in the city. Kodandaram said the TJAC would definitely consider postponing the programme if the Governor can secure a statement from the Centre on the Telangana issue.
“Let the Centre announce a roadmap on Telangana. We will postpone the programme,” he said.
