The State Government announced a pension of Rs 10000 to Bodapati Seshama, the grand daughter of Gurajada Appa Rao. This was announced by the Chief Minister N Kriankumar Reddy at Ravindra Bharathi today on the occasion of 150th birthday celebrations of famous Gurujada, who had been a house-hold name in Andhra Pradesh.
Telugu poet and reformer Apparao born in Yekamanchili, Visakhapatnam district in 1862, earned undying renown with his first and great hit ‘ Kanyashulkam ‘ and continued to win laurels and awards in a row. Of all his works, Kanayshulkam was a big draw then and now impressing all and sundry as it had great relevance to the social fabric.
His famous expression “ deshamante mattikadoy … “ are still reminisced across the society and portray his love for his country at a time when the British rule was at its height. His talent and fame spread like a wild fire inspiring people.
